Dana Point Historical Society Public Reading Of R.H. Dana’s “Two Years Before The Mast”
Dana Point Historical Society Public Reading Of R.H. Dana’s “Two Years Before The Mast” With a spectacular mural of the Dana Point coast as it was in Richard Henry Dana, Jr’ s. time as background, the third public community reading of Dana’s Two Years Before The Mast will take place during the second weekend of the Festival of Whales, starting this afternoon from 1 PM – 4 PM at the Nature Interpretive Center, 34558 Scenic Drive (take Green Lantern off of Coast Highway). A presentation of the Dana Point Historical Society, it is modeled on the public reading of Moby Dick, a highly successful venture of the New Bedford Whaling Museum in Massachusetts. Over one hundred volunteer readers will read for eight to ten minutes each, completing the entire book in about fifteen hours over the three days; Friday, March 8th, 1 PM – 4 PM; Saturday, March 9th, 9 AM – 6 PM Sunday, March 10th, 9 AM – 12 Noon.
