Polynesian Connection The Hula Connection (Leinani Hula Hui’ana) presents a day of Polynesian culture, live entertainment, music, dance, food, drink and hands-on educational experiences for participants of all ages! This exciting event will be offered from 10AM to 4PM at Baby Beach, to span the sandy beach and grassy areas. Activities include cultural demonstrations, Polynesian displays, fun-filled activities for children and adults such as lei-making, ‘fire’ knife and hula/Tahitian dancing, poi-ball twirling, air-brush tattoos and unique face-painting, coconut husking, outrigger canoe demonstrations…even a Hukilau, to name a few! A ‘kau kau’ (food) area offers a taste of Polynesian local favorites – – Spam Musubi, Hawaiian plate lunch, shave ice and more!!

In the evening, enjoy an authentic luau at the OC Sailing and Events Center from 5:30 – 9 PM. Experience or relive the unforgettable sights, smells, sounds, and tastes of beautiful Polynesia! It will include a formal dinner and professional entertainment. Additionally, a beer garden located at the OC Sailing Center will be open from approximately 2-7 PM (overlapping with both the festival and the luau) and will feature Hawaiian beers, New Zealand wines and pineapple champagne. Ticket price for the luau is $50 (your purchase is tax deductible as proceeds benefit 501c3 organizations below) and can be purchased at the Hula Connection website. Proceeds will benefit HALO/Dance for Autism and ALOHA = Arts and Learning Opportunities to Help those with Autism, 501c3 charitable organizations. Come join us to live ALOHA! 3rd Annual Whale of a Clam Chowder Cook Off  Sample a variety of tasty chowders from local restaurants and organizations and then vote for your favorite from 10 AM to 2 PM along the Harbor walkway adjacent to Art in the Park, near Island Way.  Prizes will be awarded for Best Chowder, Best Booth Design and People’s Choice.  Tasting packets will include taste sampling tickets, tasting cups and spoons – only $10 to taste every sample – makes a great lunch!  All proceeds will benefit Fish for Life, offering programs designed to provide love and inspiration to a multitude of special needs people while teaching fishing skills and ministering to the value of life. http://www.fishforlife.org/

Whale of a BBQ  Delicious BBQ specialties at affordable prices will be served up from 11:30 AM to 4 PM adjacent to Baby Beach during Ocean Awareness Day.

Whale of a Concert BBQ Concessions for scrumptious BBQ specialties will be available from Noon to 5 PM at the OC Sailing & Event Center adjacent to Baby Beach, including a Spirits Garden for those over 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.

Whale of a Pancake Breakfast & Raffle with Entertainment  Hosted by the Dana Point Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9934 and Ladies Auxiliary 9934 at the OC Sailing & Event Center’s Dana Cove Room from 8 AM – 11 AM.  Start your day with delicious, fluffy pancakes with strawberry topping served hot off the griddle, tasty sausage and bacon, served with juice, milk or coffee.  Over 25 great gifts raffled. Plus we will have surprise entertainment that covers the ages.
