Kicking off the weekend is the beloved Festival of Whales Parade, returning with an updated route that offers even more fantastic viewing opportunities along the Dana Point Harbor.

The parade begins at the corner of Golden Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive, travels along Dana Point Harbor Drive, turns onto Island Way, crosses over the bridge, and concludes at the Richard Henry Dana Jr. statue. Spectators are encouraged to line Dana Point Harbor Drive and the Island Way Bridge for prime views of the action.

This lively procession features giant helium balloons, marching bands, spirited school groups, community nonprofits, colorful floats, classic cars, and proud military units—making it a can’t-miss moment of the Festival of Whales.

Parking is available in the new Harbor Parking Structure, with up to four hours of free parking. Popular viewing areas include Dana Point Harbor Drive, the Island Way corner, Island Way bridge, and Dana Drive near the Richard Henry Dana Jr. statue.

Local community groups interested in participating are encouraged to apply.
